Jesse is a partner in the firm’s Business Litigation practice group. He focuses his practice on intellectual property (IP) litigation and enforcement, including patent, trademark and copyright infringement cases as well as trade secret misappropriation cases. He also has substantial experience with breach of contract cases, products liability cases, mass tort cases, class action defense and other types of commercial litigation. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants, and his clients run the gamut from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses and individuals. While he is based in the Midwest, he serves clients across the world and has litigated in courts throughout the United States, including in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and Wisconsin.
- Obtained complete defense verdict for international athletic apparel company following jury trial in trademark infringement litigation in which plaintiff sought more than $1 billion in damages
- Obtained complete plaintiff’s verdict for international advisory and consulting firm following jury trial in breach of contract litigation
- Obtained complete plaintiff’s judgment for fuel broker following bench trial in breach of contract litigation
- Represented senior living community in putative class action involving claims for violations of various Ohio state statutes and defeated plaintiffs’ motion for class certification, leading to favorable settlement
- Defeated motion for preliminary injunction on behalf of manufacturer of packaged nails and screws in trademark infringement litigation, leading to favorable settlement
- Successfully moved to dismiss all claims against technology start-up in putative class action involving alleged wiretapping
- Successfully moved to dismiss four of five claims against airline, leading to settlement of remaining breach of contract claim for nuisance value
- Ongoing representation of large oil company in enforcement of its trademark portfolio through demand letters and lawsuits
- Represented packaging manufacturer in patent infringement litigation involving a patent covering a process for preparing pressure sensitive adhesive
- Represented a company that markets and licenses fat reduction procedures in multiple cases asserting trademark infringement
- Aggressively litigated copyright infringement case on behalf of Fortune 500 chemical manufacturer, leading the plaintiff, who had sought millions of dollars in damages, to settle for nuisance value
- Represented international electronics company in putative class action litigation
- Represented international clinical research organization in breach of contract litigation
- Represented manufacturer of food flavoring in defense of multiple toxic tort cases
- Represented large public university in litigation involving numerous tort and contract claims
