Thompson Hine Partners Karen Boyd and Jennifer Seraphine to Be Honored at ALM’s Prestigious California Legal Awards

Thompson Hine LLP

Thompson Hine LLP, a national law firm recognized for its innovation focus, announced today that Silicon Valley partners Karen Boyd and Jennifer Seraphine have been selected as honorees for the American Lawyer Media’s (ALM) 2026 California Legal Awards. The recognition further underscores the firm’s growing presence on the West Coast following the launch of its Los Angeles office in June 2024 and the addition of the former Turner Boyd Seraphine team in Silicon Valley on January 1, 2026. Boyd and Seraphine are partners in the firm’s Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation practice.

Seraphine has been named one of just seven honorees in the Women Leaders in Tech Law – Intellectual Property category. Boyd has been named one of 12 honorees in the Mentorship category. The awards will be presented at a dinner in Los Angeles on June 24.

“These honors highlight exactly why we were so excited to welcome the Turner Boyd Seraphine team to Thompson Hine and to build on our Los Angeles launch with a Silicon Valley office,” said Tony White, Thompson Hine’s managing partner. “Jennifer and Karen and exemplify the combination of top-tier trial skill, deep IP and tech-sector sophistication, and commitment to developing talent that is driving our continued expansion of leading IP and technology litigation trial lawyers on the West Coast and nationwide.”

With deep technical expertise from electrical engineering and computer science to biotechnology and medical devices, Thompson Hine’s national Intellectual Property & Technology Litigation team, which includes the firm’s year-old Minneapolis office, has extensive experience litigating IP and technology disputes throughout the United States. The team has deep experience in key patent litigation venues, including the Northern District of California, the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, the District of Delaware, and the Federal Circuit, as well as significant capabilities before the PTAB and ITC. The team is trial-focused and recognized for results in complex, technology-intensive disputes, with approximately 35 lawyers to enable efficient, right-sized staffing across venues and technologies.

Thompson Hine’s Silicon Valley office advances the firm’s strategy to build a differentiated national platform across key technology markets. Pairing locations in Northern and Southern California provides seamless statewide service, strengthens cross-office collaboration, and deepens access to one of the most active patent litigation venues in the country. This move complements the firm’s market strength and leverages its Midwest depth to deliver value and efficiency at scale, further enhancing a coast-to-coast platform for complex technology disputes.
