Thompson Hine Bolsters Chicago Growth with Leading Middle-Market Corporate Partner Robyn Axberg

Thompson Hine LLP

Thompson Hine LLP, a national law firm recognized for its innovation focus, announced today that Robyn C. Axberg has joined its Chicago office as a partner in the Corporate Transactions & Securities practice, further strengthening the firm’s middle-market transactional bench in the Midwest and nationally. With more than two decades of combined legal and financial experience, Axberg advises privately held and founder-led companies on mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and general corporate matters.

Axberg represents businesses across a broad array of industries, including insurance, fintech and financial services, technology, manufacturing, hospitality, and consumer products. She regularly represents growth-oriented enterprises, guiding clients through the full business life cycle – from formation and governance to capital raises, strategic transactions, and succession planning. Drawing on her prior role as a financial analyst at a Fortune 500 company, she delivers practical, business-forward counsel on complex deals and commercial arrangements, including technology licensing and strategic alliances.

“I am thrilled to join Thompson Hine’s collaborative platform and help build on the firm’s momentum in Chicago,” Axberg said. “The firm’s focus on the middle market, commitment to innovation, and cross-disciplinary depth align perfectly with my clients’ needs. I look forward to partnering with my new colleagues to deliver efficient, high-value solutions and to mentoring the next generation of transactional lawyers.”

Axberg joins Thompson Hine from Polsinelli, where she was a shareholder in the corporate and transactional group following nearly 15 years at Holland & Knight. She also previously served as adjunct faculty advisor to the Business Enterprise Law Clinic at The John Marshall Law School, underscoring her commitment to developing future transactional lawyers.

“Robyn is a proven deal lawyer and trusted advisor to privately held companies, and her arrival only enhances our ability to serve middle-market clients across our national footprint,” said Jonathon Vinocur, Chicago office partner in charge and leader of the firm’s New Ventures practice. “Adding an experienced deal lead like Robyn is highly strategic to further building out the firm’s Chicago-based offering.”

Axberg’s addition builds on Thompson Hine’s strategic expansion in Chicago, following the recent arrival of Matt Alshouse from DLA Piper as a partner in the Real Estate practice. Alshouse focuses on private equity real estate and cross-border transactions, including inbound investments by Korean asset managers, and brings significant experience across fund-level financing, capital markets and complex portfolio transactions. Together, these lateral additions deepen the firm’s multidisciplinary capabilities in Chicago and position the office to meet growing client demand across corporate, real estate, capital markets, and cross-border matters, while leveraging the firm’s innovative service delivery model focused on predictability, efficiency, and transparency.
