This CLE program, AI and Data Privacy Issues Impacting Legal Departments, examines the rapidly evolving intersection of artificial intelligence and data privacy law and the implications for both in-house legal teams and outside counsel.

The program will explore the regulatory landscape governing the use of AI in legal practice, including compliance obligations under key data privacy frameworks such as comprehensive state privacy laws and emerging federal proposals. It will also address the ethical and practical considerations associated with AI-powered tools used for document review, contract analysis, and legal research. Participants will gain practical guidance on developing AI governance policies, conducting privacy impact assessments for AI systems that process personal data, and managing vendor relationships involving AI-enabled products and services. The session will also discuss strategies for mitigating risk related to biased AI outputs, protecting sensitive data when integrating AI into legal workflows, and navigating cross-border data transfer considerations.
