Sarah is counsel in the firm's Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group. Her practice focuses on advising employers and plan fiduciaries on compliance with ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code (including Section 409A), the ACA, COBRA and HIPAA across the full spectrum of benefit plans and compensation programs, including defined benefit and defined contribution plans, health and welfare plans, nonqualified deferred compensation arrangements and severance programs.
Before joining Thompson Hine, Sarah spent nearly a decade in in-house benefits counsel roles at Fortune 200 publicly traded corporations, advising on the design, implementation and ongoing compliance of complex benefit plans and compensation programs, supporting Board of Director compensation committees, serving as secretary to ERISA fiduciary committees, advising on executive compensation disclosures in SEC filings, managing HIPAA privacy and security programs and counseling on benefits-related aspects of union negotiations.
