Steve is a partner in the firm's Real Estate, Commercial and Public Finance, and Corporate Transactions & Securities practice groups. His commercial real estate practice focuses on the acquisition, development (mixed use, office and retail), finance and sales of commercial land; commercial leasing; sale/leaseback transactions; zoning and land use planning; and construction contracts. Steve is co-chair of the Development Team of the Real Estate practice group.

Steve represents developers, owners, users and operators of office buildings, multi-family projects, shopping centers, industrial and manufacturing facilities, and other mixed use projects on a local, regional and national basis. He represents clients in sophisticated, multi-faceted loan workouts and restructurings. Steve has a wide range of experience with joint ventures and syndications, including involvement with developers, investors and contractors, with an extensive variety of structures. He has been involved with the real estate aspects of, and loan documentation for, New Markets Tax Credit transactions.


Recent projects include:

  • Represented various developers in the development of numerous mixed use projects from $15 million to $200 million in value
  • Numerous sophisticated commercial joint ventures representing owners, investors and developers in the mixed use, multi-family and office arenas
  • Representing a national owner in the acquisition of a failed regional mall by purchase of lender's credit bid and subsequent financing and redevelopment of the mall into a $200 million+ asset
  • Represented a national developer in the repositioning and financing of a 1,000,000+ square foot regional mall
  • Represented developers and investors in numerous acquisitions of industrial and office buildings by short sales, foreclosure bids or purchase from lenders
  • The acquisition, financing, sale and development of numerous large multi-family properties
  • Representing a national developer in the development of a 300 unit downtown luxury high-rise apartment building
  • Representing the lender on its restructure of, and ultimate third party sale of, mortgaged assets with respect to an $80,000,000 multi-state Master Line of Credit for retail development
  • Represented user in the establishment of a 150,000 square foot industrial facility for the production of cold rolled steel
  • Representing the City of Cincinnati in connection with the $600,000,000 Banks development
  • Representing several corporate entities in headquarters or regional headquarters leasing in excess of 100,000 square feet
  • Representing several corporations with respect to their national real estate acquisition, disposition and leasing activities
