Jacob represents plaintiffs and defendants in patent and trademark litigation in federal district courts throughout the country. His practice also includes copyright and trade secret litigation, as well as other commercial cases involving technical subject matter. He has experience with state and federal appellate proceedings, with inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO, with opposition proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the USPTO, and with patent infringement proceedings before the International Trade Commission.
Jacob represents clients ranging from individuals to startups to major corporations and handles patent matters involving diverse areas of technology, ranging from semiconductors to biotechnology to medical devices. His writing on patent law has been published by Law360.
Jacob has also represented pro bono clients in civil rights and guardianship cases. He received a Wiley M. Manual Pro Bono Services Certificate from the State Bar of California in recognition of his pro bono work and a Certificate of Recognition from the Legal Aid Society of San Mateo County.
During law school, Jacob served as an extern to Judge Jeffrey White of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Following law school, Jacob was a law clerk for Judge Gerald B. Tjoflat of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit.
