Heather is senior counsel in the firm’s Corporate Transactions &amp; Securities group. She represents startups and growth-stage companies in business transactional matters.

She also serves as general counsel of Simple Mills, a food company that is leading the clean food movement by using innovation to drive forward their mission to enrich lives and bodies through simple, delicious, purposeful foods.

Before joining Thompson Hine, she was a professor at Chicago-Kent College of Law. In this role, she served as a supervising attorney for the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic in the C-K Law Group, a program she designed, launched and directed and generally referred to as the Startup Legal Shop. She also served as the associate director of the Center for Real Estate Law at The John Marshall Law School.

Most recently, Heather served as the founding attorney at Harper Legal, a boutique law firm based in Chicago representing emerging companies. She is active in Chicago’s startup community and is deeply embedded with her clients’ businesses.
