HannaSantanam

Associate

Hanna is an associate in the Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation practice group. She focuses her practice on advising plan sponsors and plan fiduciaries of qualified retirement plans and health and welfare plans on compliance under the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, and Treasury and DOL regulations, with a particular focus on ESOP administration, formation, and transactions. She also assists with ERISA class action defense, representing corporate and institutional clients.

Prior to joining Thompson Hine, Hanna was an associate at an employee benefits law firm in Washington, D.C., where she gained experience in drafting answers, interrogatories and requests for production for complex ERISA litigation matters. She also advised clients on ERISA compliance matters related to employer-sponsored health and retirement plans, executive compensation under § 409(a) of the Tax Code and the creation of SPACs for retirement plan investments.

While in law school, Hanna served as co-director of the Penn Law chapter of the International Refugee Assistance Project, a global legal aid and advocacy organization.
