George is counsel in the firm's Employee Benefits & Executive Compensation group. His practice focuses on the strategic design, implementation and administration of qualified retirement plans, health and welfare benefit plans and non-qualified deferred compensation arrangements that help his clients attract, retain and reward the workforce of the 21st century. George advises on a wide range of employee benefit matters, including health savings accounts (HSAs) that are paired with high-deductible health plans (HDHPs), pension risk transfers (PRTs) and fiduciary responsibilities in the selection of all investment options for qualified plans.
Before rejoining Thompson Hine, George served as a director at a nationally recognized financial services company, where he developed educational programming on compliance obligations applicable to retirement plans, consulted on sales and marketing materials and presented on legal compliance topics at company, industry and broker-dealer events. Before that role, he spent nearly a decade at large, nationally recognized law firms, including Thompson Hine, where he counseled employers on all types of employee benefits and executive compensation issues, drafted retirement and welfare benefit plan documents, advised on health and welfare benefits and health care reform, negotiated vendor contracts, prepared IRS and DOL correction program submissions and reviewed benefits and executive compensation matters in connection with corporate mergers and acquisitions.
