Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that it represented Husqvarna Group in obtaining the first Conditional Approval ever granted by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) for foreign-produced advanced robotic devices on the U.S. market.
The approval follows the FCC’s July 2026 decision to add all foreign-produced advanced robotic devices and power inverters to the “Covered List,” which bars new foreign-produced models from obtaining the equipment authorization required for lawful importation and marketing unless the FCC grants a Conditional Approval. Husqvarna Group is the first robotics company to successfully navigate this new regulatory process.

The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau announced the approval on September 9, 2026, covering four Husqvarna robotic mower platforms: the Husqvarna Automower® 305V iQ, 310V iQ, 420V iQ, and 440V iQ. The Conditional Approval exempts these platforms — which are expected to launch in the U.S. in 2027 — as well as Husqvarna’s already-approved models currently on the market, from the Covered List.
