Alexis, an attorney in the Tax group, has broad experience counseling businesses, nonprofit organizations and individuals on a wide range of transactional federal income tax matters and Ohio tax controversy matters before the Ohio Department of Taxation and Ohio Board of Tax Appeals. She advises clients on aspects of corporate and partnership taxation, including the tax consequences of mergers and acquisitions involving private equity funds and regulated investment companies. Alexis regularly counsels clients on transactions involving Section 1202 qualified small business stock (QSBS), advising on the associated gain exclusion for QSBS shareholders. Additionally, she counsels on matters involving renewable energy transactions, particularly those involving the Section 48 investment tax credit.

Zane Venture Fund – Thompson Hine Sponsors Capital Readiness Cohort 7 Program

Earlier this month, <a href="https://www.thompsonhine.com/professionals/lindsay-karas-stencel/">Lindsay Karas Stencel</a> presented to the Zane Access Cohort Accelerator Program in the Thompson Hine Atlanta office. Zane Access empowers overlooked early-stage founders and small business owners by providing critical training, support and funding education essential for success. She presented on legal setup and terminology, including all things convertible notes, SAFEs and preferred equity. The cohort was incredibly engaged and had meaningful conversations about difficult topics, such as how to pitch or present a fundraising opportunity to potential investors and how to determine if you’re giving up too much in the early rounds.

In the Community: Ohio Chamber of Commerce for Veterans – Board Member

Thompson Hine attorney <a href="https://www.thompsonhine.com/professionals/jasmin-hurley/">Jasmin Hurley</a> is the Board Chair and Chapter Lead for the Central Ohio Chamber of Commerce for Veterans. She is a former U.S. Army officer and dedicates her practice to helping small businesses and startups with their corporate needs. In addition to her professional endeavors, she co-owns Hurley Rentals LLC with her husband. Jasmin has dedicated her time to various volunteer roles supporting initiatives for veterans.
