On July 1, 2020, the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) will replace the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA). This trilateral free trade agreement will affect many facets of the North American economy. Please join us weekly for our four-part virtual roundtable series as we help you navigate the USMCA provisions affecting companies and understand the rights and obligations of the member countries. Our discussions will include counsel from law firms in the United States, Mexico and Canada and representatives from companies addressing these issues firsthand.

Session 3 – What Happens at the Border: Trade Facilitation and Practical Questions

Chapter 7 of the USMCA contains what the United States hopes will become the gold standard for trade facilitation provisions in free trade agreements. Our panel will discuss what the signatories plan to achieve in adopting these provisions, how they will impact industry stakeholders in moving goods across the borders, the COVID-19 pandemic’s impact on such movements and how to plan for changes.
