Thompson Hine invites you to attend a complimentary professional conduct seminar that will fulfill Ohio’s requirement that lawyers complete 2.5 hours of “professional conduct” instruction during each biennial compliance period. Topics will include:
Yes, That Really Happened: (Un)Professional Conduct and Women in the Law
This segment of the program will cover current data about women in the law; relevant rules (e.g., Rules of Professional Conduct, Code of Judicial Conduct); drivers of unprofessional conduct toward women attorneys; and solutions/a call to action.
Mediators Behaving Badly
Stephen Richey, Senior Counsel, Thompson Hine
In this presentation we’ll focus on cases in which mediators found themselves as defendants in litigation or otherwise challenged in the courts. Issues include unauthorized practice of law; mediator as predator; mediator as imposter; and challenges to mediator confidentiality.
Professionalism and Pro Bono in Ohio
The final part of the program will include an overview of the rules governing the provision of pro bono legal services by Ohio lawyers; an introduction to pro bono opportunities in Cincinnati; and attorney testimonials/pro bono success stories.
