David M. Schwartz has joined the Washington office. Schwartz, 43, is of counsel in the firm's International Trade & Customs practice group. He focuses his practice on import and export compliance, trade remedy litigation and trade policy. Schwartz most recently practiced as of counsel with the Washington office of Blank Rome LLP.
When asked why he joined the firm, Schwartz said, "Thompson Hine offers not only a strong international trade practice but also a commitment to client service. I look forward to the continued development of my practice as part of the firm's larger growth plans."
Schwartz has over ten years of experience practicing international trade law. He counsels clients on international trade issues arising under U.S., NAFTA and WTO laws and regulations. He represents clients in administrative litigation proceedings before the U.S. International Trade Commission, the U.S. Department of Commerce, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and the U.S. Department of State. He also represents them in legislative matters before the U.S. Congress. Prior to private practice, Schwartz served as a judicial clerk to the Honorable A. Joe Fish, U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas.

Schwartz received his J.D. from Harvard Law School in 1991. He earned his Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy in 1987. He was a Rotary International Foundation Scholar at Victoria University from 1987 to 1988. He received his B.A. with highest honors from the University of Texas at Austin in 1984.
Schwartz is a member of the American Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Texas State Bar. He is also a past president of the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy Alumni Association. Schwartz is admitted to practice in the state of Texas and the District of Columbia.
