Thompson Hine LLP has been ranked as one of the top four U.S. law firms for promoting women to partner in 2011, according to a survey conducted by the Project for Attorney Retention (PAR).
PAR surveyed the U.S. offices of 123 firms and found that overall, 33 percent of the new partners elected in 2011 were women, down from 34 percent in 2010. Women comprised 50 percent or more of newly elected partners at just 22 of the surveyed firms. Thompson Hine named seven new partners this year, five of whom are women (71 percent), putting the firm in the survey's top four in terms of proportion of women achieving partner status.
"These results clearly indicate that law firms in general need to step up their games when it comes to retaining women lawyers and acknowledging their contributions," said Heidi B. Goldstein, chair of Spotlight on Women®, Thompson Hine's women's initiative. "We are proud of the progress we've made at Thompson Hine through the efforts of our women's initiative. Our women lawyers know that the firm values them and supports their professional development and transition to leadership roles."
David J. Hooker, the firm's managing partner, said, "Thompson Hine's dedication to promoting diversity and inclusion extends to all aspects of our organization including the election of partners. Our women lawyers contribute greatly to the firm's success and we are committed to recognizing their achievements."
