David Christy and James Losey Join Washington Office

David Christy and James Losey have joined Thompson Hine LLP as partners in the International Trade & Customs practice group. Christy was formerly of counsel with DLA Piper LLP; Losey joins the firm from Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP, where he was a partner.

Christy and Losey bring significant experience to Thompson Hine. Christy's understanding of U.S. trade policy matters, international arbitration and World Trade Organization (WTO) disputes and negotiations, and Losey's knowledge of export controls, economic sanctions and international law and policy, allow the firm to offer clients additional senior level experience on a range of issues affecting international commerce.

Christy represents clients in international arbitrations and trade disputes and advises on trade policy issues. He has deep experience with WTO disputes and negotiations, including accession negotiations. He advises companies, industries and governments on the full range of U.S. trade policy issues and on antidumping and countervailing duty proceedings and safeguard investigations.

Losey's practice focuses on U.S. export controls and economic sanctions. He advises clients on transactional, compliance and enforcement matters related to export controls, restrictions, embargoes and anti-boycott regulations. He also has significant experience with the multilateral decision-making processes of international treaties and organizations, with a focus on trade-related and international environmental issues.

I'm looking forward to strengthening the firm's trade policy practice and expanding its work in the areas of WTO and Free Trade Agreement matters."

Christy received his J.D. from The University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. from the University of Kansas. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and in New York, as well as before the Court of International Trade, the District Court for the Southern District of New York, the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court. Since 1998, he has served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center.

Losey received his J.D. from Stanford Law School, his M.P.A. from Princeton University and his B.A. from Oberlin College. Prior to law school, he served in the International Activities Office of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and was awarded the Gold Medal for Exceptional Service for his role as a member of the U.S. delegation to the international negotiations of the Montreal Protocol. He is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia.
