Employment @lert: E-Verify Requirements for Federal Contractors on Hold—Again

January 30, 2009

Details

This week, the USCIS announced another delay in the implementation of the rule requiring certain federal contractors and subcontractors to utilize E-Verify. It will now be delayed until May 21, 2009. This change was initially slated for implementation in January, based on an Executive Order signed by President Bush. The current delay will allow President Obama's administration to review the regulation. Litigation related to the regulation is also still pending. If President Obama's administration decides to move forward with implementing the regulation, the litigation will proceed in further efforts to oppose the regulation.
