Representative Matters
- Represented a nonprofit in the land purchase, construction and financing of their new corporate headquarters.
- Represented a nonprofit zoological organization in the creation of a for-profit water park owned and operated by the zoo. Services included acquisition of a leasehold interest in real estate from a public company, structuring the business and legal relationship between a for-profit LLC and its nonprofit sole member/owner, governance issues for both entities and $20 million financing for development costs, etc.
- Represented a nonprofit healthcare organization as construction and financing counsel in connection with the expansion of nursing home facilities and the renovation of assisted-living and independent-living apartments. Also assisted with real estate tax exemption applications.
- Represented an arts foundation in the acquisition and development of a building that was converted to use as a black box theater and as offices for arts organizations.
- Acted as bond counsel in connection with the issuance of tax-exempt bonds for, and the coordination of state and local funding of, approximately $80 million in financing for a performing arts center.
- Represented a nonprofit institute in lease negotiations for headquarters office space and in $13 million acquisition of project site and construction of nursing home.
- Represented a nonprofit organization in the acquisition and development of a six-acre former industrial site for redevelopment as headquarters and facility including acquisition, environmental, construction, bank financing and real estate tax exemption.
- Represented a Catholic diocese in real property tax assessment reduction proceedings.
- Represented a nonprofit organization as real estate, finance and construction counsel in connection with acquisition, renovation and financing for corporate headquarters.

- Purchase, redevelopment, leasing and sale of several downtown, high-rise office buildings.
- Construction financing of a historic landmark downtown retail and office complex.
- Negotiation of a 48,000-square-foot headquarters lease and construction of the space.
- Development agreement with the city of Cleveland, including use of eminent domain, assembly of 20-plus parcels that were used collectively for the development of the parking garage that supports the Playhouse Square theaters and sale of the site to the Playhouse Square Foundation.
- Financing of Lexington Village, a 450-unit multiphase project in Cleveland.
- Represented a nonprofit health center in the acquisition and leasing of property.
