Publication: Thompson Hine LLP

CLEVELAND – February 6, 2015 Thompson Hine LLP is pleased to announce that Brian J. Lamb has been named the firm’s litigation practice group leader. Lamb succeeds William W. Jacobs who steps down after seven years of service as practice group leader to focus on his active litigation practice.

Lamb started at Thompson Hine as a summer associate and now is in his 24th year handling complex commercial litigation at the firm. A substantial portion of his practice includes securities and shareholder litigation, ERISA litigation and complex contract disputes. Lamb previously served on the firm’s Executive Committee from 2008 to 2012.

Thompson Hine managing partner Deborah Z. Read notes, “I know Brian will excel as the leader of the litigation practice, particularly as we continue to shift the focus of our service delivery to address our clients’ needs for greater predictability, transparency and participation in their matters. Brian is a tremendous litigator and a forward-looking champion of our efforts to manage litigation, adhere to litigation budgets, and staff our litigation efficiently.  His thought leadership was instrumental in developing our proprietary litigation budgeting software, one of the tools we utilize in these efforts.  Brian follows Bill Jacobs’ lead in being among our earliest adopters of project management and budgeting.”

Lamb’s recent client successes include securing a dismissal on behalf of the board of a publicly traded company of three shareholder derivative and class action complaints in Ohio and Texas challenging the fairness of a $2.5 billion merger transaction and prevailing in an arbitration involving a dispute over the proper accounting treatment of certain items in connection with another client’s purchase of a business.

“I joined Thompson Hine right out of Columbia Law School 24 years ago because I was attracted to the sophisticated, challenging work in the firm, as well as the collegial culture of its lawyers – a unique combination,” said Lamb.  “Now I look forward to helping to lead 100 litigators in seven offices as we implement innovative service delivery methods designed to maximize value and efficiency to our clients, while providing great litigation results.”

Lamb was recognized as a “Litigation Star” by Benchmark Litigation in 2014 and 2015, by Best Lawyers® in the area of Commercial Litigation, 2010 to 2015 and selected for inclusion in Super Lawyers® 2012 to 2015. He also has been recognized by BTI Consulting Group as a “Client Service All Star.” Lamb is the vice president of the board of directors of Towards Employment, a non-profit organization that supports low income individuals in their efforts to find and keep quality jobs, and has served on the board since 2009.
