Professional Experience

Terrance is a member of the firm's Business Litigation, Product Liability and Labor & Employment practice groups. He focuses his practice on representing financial institutions and corporations in complex commercial litigation matters, including creditors rights and lender liability, cases involving commercial paper and secured transactions, consumer protection, product liability, intellectual property, labor and employment issues, contractual disputes, and general litigation. His experience includes developing case strategies, coordinating and managing discovery, evidentiary disputes, taking depositions, motion practice, trial preparation and presentation, and appellate court briefing and oral argument in state and federal courts.

Terrance is an active member of the firm's Diversity & Inclusion and Pro Bono Initiatives. Prior to joining Thompson Hine, Terrance served as a judicial extern for Judge Terence P. Kemp of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.

Terrance is admitted to practice in Ohio, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Ohio, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.

Representative Matters

  • Terrance has represented financial institutions and mortgage servicers in a variety of actions, including contested foreclosures, cases alleging wrongful/abusive collection tactics, wrongful foreclosure, conspiracy, negligence, breach of the duty of good faith and fair dealing, promissory estoppel, defamation, breach of fiduciary duty, and violations of the Consumer Sales Practices Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Home Affordable Modification Program, and the regulations enacted by the Department of Housing and Urban Development for loans insured by the Federal Housing Administration.
  • Terrance has represented employers in actions involving the Fair Labor Standards Act, misappropriation of trade secrets, violations of non-compete agreements/covenants not to compete, non-solicitation agreements, and tortious interference with contractual and business relationships.
  • Terrance has represented automobile manufacturers and dealers, defending claims brought under the Ohio Products Liability Act and alleging design defects, manufacturing defects, negligence, breach of express and implied warranties, and failure to warn.
  • Terrance has successfully defeated motions seeking relief from judgments under Civil Rule 60(B). See, e.g., Flagstar Bank, FSB v. Hairston, 2013-Ohio-1151, 2013 Ohio App. LEXIS 1033 (10th Dist. Mar. 26, 2013)
  • Terrance has represented low-income individuals at residential eviction proceedings and in consumer debt collection cases.
