Professional Experience

Michele is a partner in the firm's Business Litigation and Product Liability Litigation practice groups. She focuses her practice on general civil and commercial litigation, including disputes involving securities, fiduciary malfeasance, municipal liability, commercial contracts, employment disputes, insurance coverage, land use and zoning, employer torts, civil rights, restrictive covenants, commercial real estate, product and premises liability, and electric utility liability issues. Michele has represented clients at trial and on appeal, in administrative proceedings, in arbitration and in mediation. Michele serves on the firm's Hiring and Pro Bono Committees.

Michele is admitted to practice in Ohio, before the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Representative Matters

  • Representation of automotive manufacturers in defense of numerous actions alleging product defect.
  • Defended national fast-food restaurant chain in customer-initiated litigation, including automobile accident, slip-and-fall, and other premises and vicarious liability claims.
  • Defended employers on charges of discrimination, FMLA violations, and retaliation claims litigation in federal and state courts, as well as administrative agencies.
  • Successfully defended several insurers in Ohio trial and appellate courts against uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage claims.
  • Representation of Ohio rural electric cooperatives in tort litigation involving personal injury or death.
  • Successfully prosecuted 42 U.S.C. § 1983 and common law fraud claims against government agency.
  • Representation of landlords in various commercial leasing disputes and eviction actions; representation of commercial tenants in commercial leasing disputes.
  • Representation of various corporations in complex contractual disputes.
  • Successfully prosecuted and defended numerous actions for injunctive relief relating to restrictive covenants and non-competition agreements.
  • Regularly represent local governments in complex zoning, annexation, and intra-governmental disputes.
  • Representation of criminal defendant in appeal from conviction for insider trading and conspiracy, and in settlement of related SEC civil action.
  • Regularly advise international company on responding to subpoenas.
  • Appellate experience at the state court of appeals, state supreme court, and federal court of appeals levels.
