Professional Experience

Hans is an associate in the firm's Business Litigation practice group. Before joining Thompson Hine, Hans worked at Alston & Bird LLP and was an associate at Troutman Sanders LLP, where his practice focussed on real estate transactions, complex commercial litigation, and securities. His prior experience also includes the representation of title insurers and their insureds in real property disputes. Hans also served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. William M. Barker, Chief Justice of the Tennessee Supreme Court, in 2005-06.

Hans is admitted to practice in the state of Georgia.

  • Successfully defended mortgage lenders against allegations of fraud, wrongful foreclosure, conversion, libel, and violations of RESPA, TILA, FDCPA, and FCRA.
  • Assisted in the defense of a publicly held developer and manufacturer of medical devices at two-week jury trial.
  • Assisted researching and drafting successful motion to dismiss professional malpractice claim against residential-closing law firm and its partners.
  • Represented senior officer of bank against claim of breach of fiduciary duty.
  • Represented national retailer in the acquisition of undeveloped commercial lots and the sale of developed properties.
  • Assisted in several receivership matters.
  • Represented regional fast-food chain in the acquisition and leasing of several commercial properties, and conducted numerous closings.
  • Represented regional utility company in the acquisition of residential lots necessary for expansion of power grid.
  • Prosecuted residential development company for breach of contract, quantum meruit, and unjust enrichment.
  • Prosecuted trademark-infringement and breach-of-contract claims against local restaurant company.
  • Prosecuted national residential housing developer for fraud and negligent misrepresentation.
