Professional Experience
Darrel is a partner in the firm's Real Estate practice group. He has a broad-based transactional real estate practice, with an emphasis in acquisitions, dispositions, development matters, financing transactions and commercial leasing. Darrel represents institutional investors with respect to all types of commercial real estate including office, shopping center, industrial, multi-family and mixed-use properties.
Prior to joining the firm in April of 2005, Darrel was in-house counsel to Principal Financial Group in Des Moines, Iowa, where he focused on commercial real estate equity transactions throughout the United States.
Darrel is admitted to practice in Ohio, Michigan, Iowa and Nebraska.

- Negotiation of $147 million and $27 million dispositions of California office properties
- Negotiation of $110 million disposition of Washington multi-family property
- Representation of client in connection with approximately $230 million industrial portfolio acquisition transaction, involving properties located in Wisconsin, Illinois, Nevada, Mississippi, Arkansas, Indiana, Missouri, Tennessee and Colorado
- Negotiation of $101 million industrial portfolio disposition transaction, involving properties located in Texas, Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri
- Counseled client in connection with asset management responsibilities for $900 million real estate portfolio, including eleven downtown U.S. office properties owned by real estate investment trust
- Negotiation of $98 million disposition of California multi-family property
- Negotiation of $95 million disposition of Florida shopping center property
- Negotiation of $51 million disposition of California multi-family property
- Negotiation of $47 million disposition and $35 million mezzanine loan involving Florida multi-family property
