Thompson Hine highly values your trust and confidence in us, and we want to assure you that your personal information is kept confidential by us as described in this Privacy Policy. At a minimum, we observe and comply with all professional responsibility rules that govern our legal practice and scrupulously observe our ethical obligation to protect the confidentiality of all client information. We will protect your personal information, use it appropriately, and accomplish your engagements with us in such a manner so as to continue to maintain your trust and confidence in us.
This Privacy Policy summarizes for you what information we collect about you, the limited times when we may share it with others, and how we protect your privacy. See also protecting former client information.
In order to meet your needs and to provide quality legal services to you, we collect various types of information that may contain Personally Identifiable Information ("PII") from the following sources:
We do not share PII with anyone other than our affiliates without your express consent, except as required or permitted by law and as described below. The law permits disclosure in certain instances, such as if we must share information to protect against fraud, in response to a court subpoena or other legal process, and the like.
We may disclose PII to affiliates of our firm (but only if such disclosure does not violate any rule of professional ethics). Our affiliates are certain companies, which provide consulting and advisory services for major construction projects, design business forms for financial institutions, operate title agencies, and the like.
We may also share PII that we collect, as described above (except for consumer reporting agency information--we do not disclose this), to nonaffiliated companies that perform support and marketing services on our behalf (such as data processing, market research, and mailings). For your protection, our agreements with these companies require that they also maintain your personal information in confidence, just as we do.
Return to TopKeeping PII confidential and secure is of utmost importance to us. We follow standard industry practices to actively protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of your personal information.
We also maintain physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to guard PII. In so doing, we restrict access to PII to those employees who need to know that information to provide products or services to you and to the support service companies and financial institutions mentioned above.
In turn, those companies are legally and contractually bound to maintain the privacy of any personal information shared with them. Additionally, our employees are bound by internal confidentiality policies and are subject to disciplinary action for any policy violations.
Return to TopShould you become an inactive client or should our relationship end, we will continue to protect the confidentiality and security of your personal information in accordance with this privacy policy.
